Vol. 426 No. 5

Written Answers. - Paper Recycling.

Trevor Sargent

Ceist:

146 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for the Environment the quantity of paper used, the quantity of recycled paper used and the quantities of post-consumer paper recycled by his Department.

My Department arranges for its supplies of paper through the Government Supplies Agency. It is estimated that some 13,000 reams of paper will be required for 1933, 12,500 reams of which is to be recycled paper. Waste paper arising in the Department's Dublin offices is collected for recycling. The waste paper from the Vehicle Registration Unit in Shannon is shredded and is used mainly for animal bedding.
