Vol. 426 No. 5
149 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for the Environment the percentage of spring water sold in returnable glass, non-returnable glass, PET, cans, and bulk dispensers.
Wexford): The information requested is not currently available in my Department, pending review of the national programme prepared under Directive 85/339/EEC on Containers of Liquids for Human Consumption.
152 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for the Environment the action, if any, he will take on the report on biodegradable plastic packages.
Wexford): The report referred to concluded that the environmental case for degradable plastics has not been proven and recommended a more broadly based approach to waste reduction. This matter is being addressed particularly in the context of the development of a national recycling strategy.
