Vol. 426 No. 5

Written Answers. - Ministerial Appointments.

Peter Barry

Ceist:

229 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the number of advisers appointed to his office, their suitability for the job, and their background and training; if these positions were advertised; the contracts on which they were appointed; the amounts paid to each individual; and the role each, or any particular group, will play in formulating or implementing Government policy.

As the Deputy is aware the selection of advisers is a matter for each Government Minister and as such the posts are not advertised. The role of advisers is to advise the Minister on all aspects of Departmental and Government policy.

The additional information requested is as given in the replies to Questions Nos. 310, 344 and 362 on 10 February 1993 and Questions Nos. 157 and 158 on 16 February 1993.
