Vol. 426 No. 5

Written Answers. - Cattle Headage Applications.

Frank Crowley

Ceist:

228 Mr. Crowley asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the number of cattle headage grant applications received by his Department in 1992; the number of applications paid by 1st January, 1993; and the number of applications still waiting to be paid.

The number of applications received in 1992 under the cattle headage scheme in the more severely handicapped areas and the beef cow scheme in the less severely handicapped areas are approximately: cattle headage scheme, 82,600; beef cow scheme, 15,800.

There were 70,080 and 10,849 applicants paid under the cattle headage and beef cow schemes respectively by 1 January 1993 and the present position is that there are 77,894 and 14,262 applicants paid under the two schemes.

Many of the outstanding cases are the subject of queries and can be paid only when all queries have been resolved.
