Vol. 426 No. 5
294 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for Health if he will provide funds to facilitate the provision of a computer aided tomography scanner for Letterkenny General Hospital, County Donegal.
A CT scanner was installed in Sligo General Hospital in 1991 to provide a regional service. Prior to its installation, all North-Western Health Board patients had to travel outside the region for CT scans. Activity commenced in May 1991 and a total of 1,478 scans were provided in 1992.
The provision of additional CT scanning facilities in the North-Western Health Board will be considered in the context of the many competing demands for resources and the board's priorities for new developments.
