Vol. 426 No. 5

Written Answers. - School Transport.

Liz McManus

Ceist:

325 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Education if she will ensure that transport is provided for a person (details supplied) in County Wicklow to take him to St. Augustine's special school in Blackrock, County Dublin as was provided for him when he lived in Dublin.

Under the terms of the school transport scheme, transport is provided to enable children, including children with disabilities, to attend their nearest suitable school.

In the case in question, the family's change of address means that the nearest suitable school now is Newcourt Special School in Bray.

The child's parents have been notified to this effect and advised that appropriate transport arrangements will be made in the event of their agreeing to this placement.
