Vol. 426 No. 5

Written Answers. - School Projects.

Alan Shatter

Ceist:

327 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Education whether sanction has been given to construct the long awaited and badly needed extension to Taney primary school; whether the full funding required for the building of the school has been sanctioned; the date when construction will start; and when it is anticipated all works will be completed and the new wing available for use by the school.

I have approved of the inclusion of the building project at this school in the 1993 primary capital programme. Tenders have been received and are being considered and the project is scheduled to commence in the late summer 1993. A project of this size and nature normally takes one year to complete.

Paul Bradford

Ceist:

329 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Education the position concerning future building developments at Ballycotton national school, County Cork.

Architectural planning of the proposed extension and conversion work at Ballycotton national school is at Stage 1 (Sketch Plan).

In view of other demands deemed to be of higher priority, it has not been possible to include the project in the national school programme for 1993. It will continue to be considered for inclusion in the school building programme in light of available resources and other commitments and priorities.
