Vol. 427 No. 6

Written Answers. - Monaghan Road Improvements.

Rory O'Hanlon

Ceist:

166 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for the Environment when work will commence on the Broomfield-Castleblayney road improvements in County Monaghan, and the amount of money allocated.

Contract documents for this project are being prepared by Monaghan County Council for submission to my Department for approval. It is expected that tenders for the work will be invited by May of this year and that a contract will be awarded in the autumn. Minor preliminary work which is to be carried out by the local authority, should commence next month.

Road grant payments totalling £184,000 have already been made towards the preliminary costs of the project. I hope shortly to be in a position to notify local authorities of their road grant allocations for 1993.
