Vol. 427 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Creed

Ceist:

231 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will be paid his farm land reclamation grant.

Payment of this grant is delayed due to the temporary assignment of clerical staff from the farm development service office in Cork to livestock schemes to assist with the significant additional work arising under the Common Agricultural Policy reform measures.

In the light of the extra money provided in the budget to augment resources available to this Department to deal, inter alia, with the new schemes, I have now made arrangements for the return of the temporarily withdrawn staff to all farm development service offices with effect from Monday, 15 March 1993. This should allow grant payments to be dealt with in the normal way.

Charles Flanagan

Ceist:

232 Mr. Flanagan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a beef premium and suckler cow payment will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Laois.

This person was paid his grants under the 1992 suckler cow premium scheme in mid November 1992. His application for grants under the June 1992 special beef premium scheme is being processed at present and if found in order payment will issue shortly. He did not apply for grants under the December 1992 special beef premium scheme.

Austin Deasy

Ceist:

233 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason for the delay in payment of a beef premium to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford in view of the fact that the application was sent to Dublin for payment on 28 September 1992; and if he will have arrangements made for immediate payment.

Payment of the grants under the 1992 special beef premium scheme to the person named has been delayed pending the resolution of a problem relating to an invalid ear tag number. This problem has now been resolved and the grants payment will be made in the next few days.

Austin Deasy

Ceist:

234 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason for the delay in payment of a beef premium to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford; when an inspection was carried out; and when payment will issue.

Payment of the grants under the 1992 special beef premium scheme to the person named has been delayed because of pressure of work in the local office. An inspection was carried out on this applicant's herd on 30 October 1992. The application was approved for payment by the local office early in January but payment has been held up pending the resolution of a problem which only came to light at the computer validation stage. Payment will be made as soon as this problem has been resolved.
