Ceist:

319 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Education the number of additional vice-principal teachers who received recognition on the ex-quota basis in post-primary schools in 1992-93 in schools with 500 pupils or more in accordance with the terms of the Programme for Economic and Social Progress.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 318 and 319 together.

On the basis of enrolments at the end of September, 1991 ninety four second level schools with 500 pupils or more qualified for an ex-quota vice-principal under the terms of the Programme for Economic and Social Progress in the 1992/93 school year.

Enrolments at the end of September, 1992 show that a further 218 schools have enrolments in excess of 500 and these schools will be allocated vice-principal posts on an ex-quota basis over the next two years.
