Jim Higgins

Ceist:

321 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Education the number of secondary and community/comprehensive schools in the 350-499 pupil category which do not have access to specialist ex-quota career counselling.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 320 and 321 together.

An additional 21.5 whole-time teacher equivalents for guidance were allocated to 43 secondary and community/ comprehensive schools in the 350-499 enrolment category under the terms of the Programme for Economic and Social Progress in 1992/93.

Enrolments at 30 September 1992 show that a further 75 schools have enrolments between 350 and 499 and each of these schools will qualify for the allocation of 0.5 of a whole-time post in respect of guidance in the next two years.
