Ceist:

103 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Justice if she will give details of expenditure which was incurred in the last referendum in November 1992 with a breakdown of the expenditure including advertising in newspapers, billboards, radio, television, printing of booklets and handouts; an account of the fees, if any, paid to public relations and/or advertising agencies; and the names of the agencies, if any, which are employed by the Government.

104 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Justice the Votes from which the funds expended during the November 1992, referendum came.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 103 and 104 together.

The costs of the campaign conducted by the Government prior to the referendum on the three constitutional Amendment Bills have been met from the Vote of the Office of the Minister for Justice.

To date a total of £205,731 has been paid as set out in the table beneath.

It is expected that further bills covering the design of the information and its delivery by An Post will amount to £90,000 approximately.
