Vol. 428 No. 2

Written Answers. - National Treasury Management Operations.

Mary Harney

Ceist:

56 Miss Harney asked the Minister for Finance the implications, if any, for domestic versus foreign debt arising from the anticipated 100 million pounds savings to be made by the National Treasury Management Agency in 1993.

In my recent Budget Statement I indicated that the estimated cost of servicing the national debt in 1993 was net of a £100 million savings target set for the National Treasury Management Agency.

This target will be achieved by active debt management operations over the course of the year. It is not possible to say what implications, if any, the agency's 1993 debt management activities will have for the relative proportions of domestic and foreign debt at various stages throughout the year. That depends on market conditions over the remainder of the year.
