Vol. 428 No. 5

Written Answers. - Kilmore Quay (Wexford) Harbour.

Avril Doyle

Ceist:

142 Mrs. Doyle asked the Minister for the Marine when the Kilmore Quay Harbour improvements will commence; the stage the planning process is at; the cost of the improvements; and the amount his Department will be paying toward the overall cost.

The planned major development of Kilmore Quay, which involves dredging of the harbour and improvement of the landing facilities, is expected to cost in the region of £2 million. Design work is at a preliminary stage and discussions are continuing with local fishing interests. Subject to the design work progressing satisfactorily, and all necessary sanctions being finalised, it is intended to commence physical works in the latter part of this year. The funding of this project is currently under review.
