176 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will give details of the present position regarding proposed Community finance for an effective milk quota restructuring scheme and compensation in respect of the 4.5 per cent quotas suspended; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
I have been pressing very strongly within the Council for a Community subsidy towards the purchase of milk quota under this year's restructuring scheme. At the March Council, I received an undertaking that this idea would be examined when final decisions are taken on quota levels for the coming year. The question of the 4.5 percentage suspended quota will be examined also by Council in the same context.
