218 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Health if he will give details of the pay increases given to all members of staff in each of the eight health board areas for 1993; the percentage of the total budget over and above the 1992 figure which included special pay awards; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
On 1 January 1993 the third phase increase, as amended, under the Programme for Economic and Social Progress was applied to the salaries of all health service employees. This entailed an increase in salary at minimum of £5.75 per week and at maximum £6.50 per week. With the application of this increase and the carry over effects of other special pay awards approved in 1992, the amount available for salaries increased by 8.12 per cent in 1993 over 1992.
