Vol. 429 No. 1

Written Answers. - Dublin Ring Road.

Pat Cox

Ceist:

50 Mr. Cox asked the Minister for the Environment if, in view of the commitment to complete the C ring road around Dublin, he will give details of when that project will be completed; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

This road, which is intended to link the N1 Dublin/Belfast Road to the N11 Wexford Road, comprises four elements. The Western Parkway is already built. Work on the Northern Cross Route has commenced and is scheduled to be completed in 1996. The Southern Cross Route was scheduled to commence in 1993 and to be completed in 1997 but is now the subject of a High Court action. The South Eastern Motorway, from Sandymount to the N11 at Shankill, is at planning stage and no formal proposals in relation to it have yet been submitted to my Department by Dublin County Council.
