Vol. 430 No. 3

Written Answers. - Brideswell (Athlone) National School.

John Connor

Ceist:

163 Mr. Connor asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the conditions obtaining at Brideswell Athlone national school, County Roscommon where the most junior or infant class is accommodated in a sub-standard classroom situated a quarter of a mile from the main building itself; and if she will confirm that funds to provide additional classrooms will be provided as promised in 1993.

I am aware of the conditions prevailing at this school, where my Department has approved a major building project. Because of other demands deemed to be of higher priority which had to take precedence it was not possible to include this project in the national school capital programme for 1993. It will continue to be considered for inclusion in due course in the light of available resources and other commitments and priorities.
