Vol. 430 No. 4

Written Answers. - County Wexford Ewe Premium Quota.

Ivan Yates

Ceist:

111 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if a person (details supplied) in County Wexford is authorised to sell and lease his ewe premium quota; and, if so, if written confirmation will be sent to him in this regard.

The relevant EC Regulations provide for ewe premium quotas to be based on the number of ewes on which producers were paid ewe premium under the 1991 ewe premium scheme provided that the producers were also applicants under the 1992 scheme.

The person named applied for premium on 150 ewes under the 1992 ewe premium scheme. At an inspection within the retention period it was found that he had no ewes in his possession. Further investigations are necessary to establish if his application for 1992 was genuine. The question of authorising the sale or lease of quota will not arise until these investigations have been completed.
