Ceist:47 Mr. O'Malley asked the Minister for the Marine if work will commence in 1993 on the construction of a new ice plant at Ros a Mhil Harbour, County Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
Written Answers. - Construction of Ice Plant.
In view of budgetary constraints it was not possible to provide funding in BIM's estimates for the construction of a new ice plant at Ros a Mhil in the current year.
As the Deputy will be aware a major development programme aimed at upgrading and expanding facilities for fishermen at the harbour is now at an advanced stage. This year it is hoped to complete the new pier and to commence work on a fish auction hall.
I have asked BIM to explore fully all options for the early development of adequate ice plant facilities at Ros a Mhil including options that would reduce the burden on the Exchequer.
