157 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Education the number of schools operating the Senior Certificate in Cork city; if she has any plans to expand the scheme in view of its success so far; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Six schools operate the Senior Certificate in Cork city.

As I indicated in my reply to Question No. 294 on 9 March, 1993, the future of the Senior Certificate will be considered in the context of the future structure and content of the senior cycle of secondlevel education. This matter is discussed in the Green Paper on Education and will be further considered in the light of the views expressed by the various interested parties.
