Vol. 431 No. 6

Written Answers. - Golden (Tipperary) Garda Station.

Theresa Ahearn

Ceist:

59 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Justice the reason the works, as promised, were not carried out at a Garda station (details supplied) in County Tipperary; if moneys have been allocated for this necessary work; if so, if she will specify the amount involved; when the work will commence; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Following the granting of approval in principle to carry out refurbishment works at the station in question, the Office of Public Works proposed a more extensive refurbishment scheme involving an estimate of cost which far exceeded that which was originally envisaged. Further information has been sought from the Office of Public Works to enable a number of options for improving accommodation at Golden to be fully considered. When work will begin will depend on the option chosen, as well as overall priorities and the availability of finance.
