Vol. 431 No. 7
20 Ms F. Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht his views on the establishment of a worldwide radio network, via satellite, to relay Irish news and culture to expatriates living abroad.
I appreciate the Deputy's concern in providing a world-wide broadcast service which would serve our expatriates living abroad. The opportunities presented by developments in satellite telecommunications technology will be kept under review in consultation with RTE having regard to coverage, receiver ownership, terrestrial distribution mechanisms, copyright implications and costs.
