116 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications if he intends to meet with the staff and union representatives of Allenwood Power Station, County Kildare; if his attention has been drawn to the local concern at the delay in restoring the station to full load; if his attention has further been drawn to previous commitments in relation to its future; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
As I indicated to the House previously, the ESB recently submitted a report to me in which the closure of the generating station at Allenwood was recommended. That report is being carefully considered, taking into account the many commercial and technical aspects of the issue.
I have received many representations from interested parties. I am conscious of the concerns which have been expressed by both the public and trade union representatives. I will take these concerns fully into account in reaching a decision on the matter.
