108 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform if he will give details of the various European Community initiatives that he has implemented in the period from 1989 to 1993 inclusive; the scope and extent of funding for each programme; if these programmes will be continued in the future; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
I have not implemented any European Community initiatives since taking up office.
My role in relation to the groups for which I have been given special responsibility under the Programme for a Partnership Government is primarily one of co-ordination and monitoring rather than direct disbursement of funds.
However, I will be concerned to see that the commitments given regarding the equality for women, the disabled and the travelling community are reflected in the disbursement of EC funds, including any new European Community initiatives which may, in due course, replace current initiatives such as the NOW and HORIZON programmes when these come to an end.
