Vol. 433 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Finucane

Ceist:

88 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will reconsider his refusal to approve a 1992 cow suckler premium for a person (details supplied) in County Limerick as this person was eligible in view of the fact that his quota was 9,968 gallons and the balance of his quota was leased on 1 April 1992; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

In order to be eligible for grants under the 1992 suckler cow premium scheme for small-scale milk producers an applicant must inter alia hold a milk quota of less than 12,819 gallons on 1 April 1992. The person named has been deemed ineligible for grants under that scheme because his milk quota as certified by his creamery was 12,849 gallons on 1 April 1992.

John Ellis

Ceist:

89 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will now pay ewe premiums due to a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim.

I assume that this question relates to the 1992 ewe premium scheme.

As pointed out in my reply of 8 April last, applicants under the 1992 ewe premium scheme were required to keep on their holding for 100 days from 14 March 1992 to 21 June 1992 the number of eligible ewes on which they applied for premium. As the person named did not fulfil this requirement she was not entitled to be paid premium under the 1992 scheme.

Theresa Ahearn

Ceist:

90 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a farm development grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Paul Connaughton

Ceist:

91 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason a beef cow/suckler grant for 1992 has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway; and when payment will be issued to him.

The person named was paid for his beef cows under the 1992 cattle headage and suckler cow premium schemes at the end of December 1992 and mid-June 1993 respectively.

Liz McManus

Ceist:

92 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if, in the interests of rural development, he will make a strong case for a revolving fund to be allocated to the rural resettlement programme.

I am aware that the activities of the rural resettlement organisation have already been grant aided from a number of official sources. The main activity of the organisation relates to providing housing for families in rural areas which is outside the terms of my brief and for the support of which there are no funds at my Department's disposal. I will, however, have the matter of additional aid considered further by the Departments concerned.
