Ceist:93 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the percentage of visitors on transatlantic flights who visit the Dublin area via Shannon or one of the UK airports; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Bord Fáilte estimate that some 250,000 North Americans visited the Dublin area for one or more nights in 1992, and 54 per cent of these arrived on indirect air or sea routes from Britain and Mainland Europe. The remainder arrived on direct transatlantic flights to Ireland, disembarking, according to Bord Fáilte estimates, in approximately equal proportion at Shannon and Dublin.
