Vol. 435 No. 1

Written Answers. - Bray (Wicklow) Women's Refuge.

Liz McManus

Ceist:

169 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the delays in payments by the Eastern Health Board to voluntary bodies, and, in particular, the case of the Bray Women's Refuge which has not received any allocation for 1993; and if he will deal with the matter.

I am pleased to inform the Deputy that following discussions with my colleague, the Minister for Finance, agreement has been reached on a refinancing package which will address the current cash problems of the health agencies including the Eastern Health Board. The details of the refinancing package are currently under discussion between my Department and the Department of Finance and will be put in place as quickly as possible.

Regarding the Deputy's specific query in relation to the Bray Women's Refuge, I have been in touch with the Eastern Health Board on this matter and they have informed me that a grant payment is at present being approved, and that payment will be made in November.
