Vol. 436 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payment.

Ceist:

88 Mr. Byrne asked the Minister for the Environment the date of application for a thatching grant for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford; the progress to date; the likely outcome; the length of time between completion of the work and an inspection; when an inspection will take place; the average delay between completion of such works and their inspection for grant purposes; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

There is no record of the receipt of an application for a thatching grant from the person named at the address given. There is, however, an application from a person with a slightly different name at the same address; this was received on 24 February 1992. Notification of completion of the work and a claim for payment were not received until 15 October 1993. An inspection, with a view to payment of the grant, will be carried out as soon as possible.

Generally speaking, the average time elapsing between notification of completion of works and an inspection is about six weeks though a longer period may occur in the circumstances of a particular application.
