Vol. 436 No. 7

Written Answers. - Farm Income Data.

Ivor Callely

Ceist:

179 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will give details of recent trends in farm incomes; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The current preliminary estimate by the CSO is that farm income, i.e. excluding farmer's income from non-farming activities, will have increased by 8.2 per cent this year. The year on year increase would be over 11 per cent when account is taken of the added benefit arising from reduced interest payments by the agricultural sector.

Farm incomes would thus have increased by about 37 per cent in the two years since 1991, again taking account of interest payments by the sector.
