Vol. 436 No. 7

Written Answers. - County Roscommon Substandard Schools.

John Connor

Ceist:

238 Mr. Connor asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the fact that a recent survey conducted by the INTO showed five national schools in County Roscommon as being seriously substandard, namely, Tulsk national school, Rooskey national school, Kilmurray national school, Castleplunkett national school and Woodbrook Carrick-on-Shannon national school; and the proposals, if any, she has to fund improvements in these schools in 1994.

I am aware of the accommodation problems of the schools in question. My Department has sanctioned major capital projects at Rooskey and Kilmurray national schools, and is considering the appropriate course of action for the future development of Tulsk, Castleplunkett and Woodbrook Carrick-on-Shannon national schools.
