Vol. 436 No. 7

Written Answers. - Home-School Liaison Service.

Eamon Gilmore

Ceist:

244 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Education the guidelines, if any, that have been given to second level schools for which a home-school liaison service has been sanctioned, especially as regards the number of hours available for such a liaison post.

The second level schools participating in the home-school-liaison scheme have been asked to assign a teacher-co-ordinator full-time to liaison activities. An additional teaching post had already been allocated to the schools concerned to provide a service to alleviate the impact of disadvantage on their pupils, including home-school-liaison activities. In addition to this post, 11 part time teaching hours per week was given to the schools to assist them to participate in the scheme.
