Vol. 436 No. 7

Written Answers. - Third-level Educational Courses.

Dinny McGinley

Ceist:

250 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for Education the number of third level educational courses attended by pupils from the Republic of Ireland that are recognised for maintenance grant purposes.

Student maintenance grants under my Department's third level student support schemes are payable in respect of full-time (A) Degree courses in approved institutions in Ireland (including Northern Ireland); (B) National Certificate and National Diploma courses in regional technical colleges and Dublin Institute of Technology; (C) Certain other individually specified sub-degree courses at third level institutions in Northern Ireland.

My Department does not have details of the total number of courses above as apart from those at (C), the numbers of such courses vary from year to year. Neither is there any analysis available which shows the total number of courses where one or more students in receipt of maintenance grants are in attendance.
