80 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Finance if there are any EC or intergovernmental agreements which allow employment in State or semi-State organisations here to be added for pension purposes to similar employment in the UK or other EC countries.
Persons who leave State or semi-State employment in this country and take up employment with an EC institution (e.g. the EC Commission or Council) may have their prior service reckoned for the purpose of the EC Staff Superannuation Scheme. However, apart from these special arrangements, there are no intergovernmental or EC agreements which provide for the transfer of service in the Irish public sector to similar employments in the UK or other EC member states.
