Vol. 437 No. 4

Written Answers. - Castleblayney (Monaghan) Military Barracks.

Seymour Crawford

Ceist:

118 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for Defence if his attention has been drawn to the unacceptable conditions of the living quarters in the Military Barracks in Castleblayney, County Monaghan; if, in view of the fact that this has been a temporary barracks for 24 years and that one of his predecessors stated that it should be and would be made permanent, he will make a statement as to when this barracks will be made permanent and when the necessary repairs will be carried out.

The status of the military post at Castleblayney is under continuing review.

The provision of new accommodation for military personnel at the Post will be considered in the context of the resources available for building and engineering works for 1994 and will take account of the competing demands for such resources.
