Theresa Ahearn

Ceist:

130 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary can apply for suckler cow premium for animals that were removed compulsorily from the herd before an application was submitted; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Only suckler cows present on the holding on the date of application can be accepted for suckler cow premium and such cows have to be retained for six months following application or replaced with in-calf heifers or other suckler cows during that six months period. Animals removed compulsorily before the date of application, therefore, cannot be submitted for premium.
