Vol. 437 No. 4

Written Answers. - National Lottery Funding.

Eamon Gilmore

Ceist:

132 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the total amount of money from the proceeds of the national lottery which has been distributed by his Department; and the total amount of such moneys that has been allocated to community, sporting and voluntary bodies.

In 1991 a total of £940,581 was provided from national lottery funds for the capital and non-capital expenses of the National Botanic Gardens. On 9 January 1992 the responsibility for the gardens was transferred to the Minister for Finance.

This is the only occasion that my Department has received money from the national lottery. None of the money was allocated to community, sporting or voluntary bodies.
