Vol. 438 No. 3

Written Answers. - Staff Pension Scheme.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

67 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he has received a report on Noble Lowndes-Irish Pension Trust administration of the Dublin Cargo Handling Staff Pension Scheme; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that former staff members were transferred into this scheme without their knowledge or consent; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have received representations on the matters raised by the Deputy which I have referred to the Pensions Board for investigation. I understand that these investigations are still in train.

The Pensions Act, 1990 contains provisions relating to the duties and responsibilities of trustees and under the Act the Pensions Board is responsible for supervising compliance with its provisions. The board has extensive powers in this regard to take action as appropriate in the circumstances.
