Vol. 438 No. 7

Written Answers. - Limerick Regional Hospital Facilities.

Ned O'Keeffe

Ceist:

224 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Health when funding will be made available to Limerick Regional Hospital to extend and improve one of the facilities available to patients (details supplied); and if his attention has been drawn to the hardship being imposed on patients in need of this facility.

I am happy to inform the Deputy that I have allocated additional funding of £75,000 in 1994 for the improvement of the renal dialysis service in the Mid-Western Health Board area. My Department will be in contact with the health board to agree details regarding the expansion of the service.

The expansion of the dialysis service at the Regional Hospital, Limerick will alleviate the present situation whereby some patients must travel outside the region to undergo dialysis.
