105 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Health if an epidural is available on request to women in all maternity hospitals; the steps, if any, he intends taking to ensure that such a service is made available; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
Epidural services are available at most maternity units in this country. The question of further developing these services is a matter in the first instance for the health board and hospital authorities concerned having regard to their overall financial resources and their overall priorities for the development of services.
