Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 20 and the name of the Member in each case: Deputy Dan Wallace — The urgent need to replace the windows in St. Patrick's national school, Gardiner's Hill, Cork, which are in a very dangerous condition; Deputy Dukes — The anomalies in the assessment of farm income for the purpose of determining eligibility for higher education grants; and reported proposals to the effect that assets such as land should in future be taken into account in carrying out such assessments; Deputy Therese Ahearn — The closure of St. Joseph's College secondary school, Cahir, County Tipperary, leaving 120 students without secondary education from July 1994; and the proposals for the continuation of secondary education for the students involved and for the future employment of the present staff; Deputies Hogan and Browne (Carlow-Kilkenny)— The recent announcement of the proposed closure of Universal Cladding, Kilkenny, with the threatened loss of 30 jobs; and the need for action in the matter; Deputy Finucane — The need to provide funding for conversion of a dormitory into classrooms at the Salesian secondary school, Pallaskenry, County Limerick; Deputy Boylan — The need to ensure that diseased cattle are not moved without permit; Deputy Gilmore — The inadequate housing allocation for 1994 communicated to Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council; Deputy Molloy — The action it is proposed to take to alleviate the hardship caused by excessive flooding of farmland in the Gort-Ardrahan, area of County Galway at present, and the findings and recommendations of a January 1992 report in the matter; and Deputy Penrose — The delay in sanctioning and approving the necessary finance for the north-western low level section of the Mullingar regional water supply, which includes Ballynacargy, Moyvore, Ballymore and their hinterlands, and the impact of this delay on local residents and on the development of industry and agriculture in the area.
