Vol. 440 No. 7

Written Answers. - Thurles (County Tipperary) School.

Michael Lowry

Ceist:

274 Mr. Lowry asked the Minister for Education the proposals, if any, she has to provide adequate accommodation and facilities for the students of Gaelscoil Bhríde, Durlas Éile which has permanent recognition from her Department has 92 students, with considerable expansion forecast and the existing accommodation is totally unsuitable; her views on whether alternative accommodation is required urgently in view of the fact that the lease on the existing building expires in 1994; and if she will make a statement on her intentions in this regard.

While my Department is aware of the difficulties with the existing temporary accommodation of Gaelscoil Bhríde, Dúrlas Éile, it is the responsibility of the school authorities to provide suitable temporary accommodation pending the provision of a permanent building. My Department will be giving every assistance to the school authorities in their endeavour to obtain suitable alternative premises for September 1994.
