Ceist:144 Miss Quill asked the Minister for the Environment the amount of overdraft interest approved by him for each rating authority for the last year for which completed statistics are available.

While my Department approves maximum limits for local authority overdraft facilities, the amount of interest in any individual case depends on the level of overdraft required from day-to-day and falls to be provided for as a revenue expense in the normal way in local authority estimates. Specific information on the amounts of overdraft interest paid by each local authority is not available in my Department.
