Vol. 440 No. 7

Written Answers. - Window Replacement Programme.

Gay Mitchell

Ceist:

143 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for the Environment if he will ensure that sufficient funds are supplied to extend the window replacement programme at a complex (details supplied).

An allocation of £2.425 million has been made to Dublin Corporation, from the £3 million provided in the budget on a "once-off" basis from the proceeds of the tax amnesty, as a contribution towards the replacement of substandard windows in large local authority flat complexes. The Corporation are responsible for determining the particular flat complexes in which windows are to be replaced under this programme. Window replacement in other flat complexes, apart from those designated for funding under the remedial works scheme, is a matter for the local authority to be financed from their revenue resources as part of their normal responsibility for the maintenance of their dwellings.
