Vol. 441 No. 1

Written Answers. - Irish Shipping Employees.

Pádraic McCormack

Ceist:

114 Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for the Marine when the Government agreement to pay the Irish Shipping workers will be implemented; when the workers will receive payment; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A Bill providing for the making of payments to certain former employees of Irish Shipping Limited was circulated to Deputies last week. The proposed legislation, which will be introduced in the House at the first opportunity, will allow for implementation of the Government's decision to make ex-gratia once off payments to former employees of the company.

The processing of payments to eligible former employees — or to the personal representatives of deceased former employees — will follow as quickly as possible after the Bill is enacted.
