Vol. 441 No. 6

Written Answers. - Policy on Overflights.

Ivor Callely

Ceist:

88 Mr. Callely asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs his policy on arrangement of overflights of the State by foreign military aircraft; if such military aircraft carry highly explosive devices; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Foreign military aircraft are permitted by the Minister for Foreign Affairs to overfly the State subject to certain conditions being met. The most important of these are that the aircraft is unarmed, does not carry arms, ammunition or explosives, that it does not carry photographic equipment, and that the flight in question does not form part of a military exercise.
