Written Answers. - Prisoner Transfer.

Ceist:

66 Mr. Boylan asked the Minister for Justice if she will consider the transfer of a person (details supplied) in County Cavan from Spike Island to Mountjoy Prison, Dublin 7, in view of the fact that he is unable to have visits from his family due to the distance and both his parents are depressed due to this.

The Deputy will appreciate that the operational requirements of the prison system necessitate transfers of prisoners between institutions and that it is not always possible to facilitate individual preferences. However, in this case it is expected that it will be possible to effect the transfer in the coming weeks to a Dublin prison.
