Vol. 442 No. 3

Written Answers. - Occupational Therapy.

Gay Mitchell

Ceist:

189 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health if he will ensure that a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12 who had a brain haemorrhage last year and is having problems with his sight is given urgent and necessary occupational therapy without delay; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The provision of occupational therapy in any individual case is a matter for the relevant health board. I have received a report from the Eastern Health Board which states that the person referred to in the Deputy's question has been in contact with the Public Health Nursing Service and has received assistance in organising services for her son as well as securing a medical card for him. Furthermore, the public health nurse has arranged for his attendance at a day centre activation centre which is due to begin shortly.
