Vol. 442 No. 3

Written Answers. - Rathcoole (Dublin) School.

Pat Rabbitte

Ceist:

207 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Education when she intends to sanction the provision of a physical education hall for Pobalscoil an Teaghlaigh Naofa, Rathcoole, County Dublin, in view of the fact that the school now has 840 pupils and that the hall has been sought since 1984; where the school is placed in the priority list for the provision of such halls; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Due to demands on the capital resources available, priority has been given for some time to the provision of essential teaching spaces. As a result it is not possible in present circumstances to grant aid the provision of physical education halls at existing schools which are without such facilities. Provision of PE facilities in such schools will resume as soon as pressure on available resources for classroom accommodation has eased. My Department does not have a priority list at present of schools which are in need of such facilities.
