Vol. 443 No. 5

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

74 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when slaughter premium on 36 cattle will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter in view of the fact that the premium should have been paid at the end of 1993.

The person named was paid full deseasonalisation slaughter premium of £1,898.28 on 26 May 1994 on foot of an application lodged in 1993 in respect of 36 animals.

Frank Crowley

Ceist:

75 Mr. Crowley asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when the balance of beef premium will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

The person named applied for premium on 32 animals under the November 1993 special beef premium scheme for 22 months old animals. Under the terms and conditions of the scheme animals had to be born before 31 January 1992 in order to qualify for premium. As all of the animals on his application were born in February 1992, they were ineligible for premium.

Frank Crowley

Ceist:

76 Mr. Crowley asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a beef premium will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

The application of the person named for grants under the January/February and June 1993 special beef premium schemes were not paid because of a delay in recording his 1993 area aid application. The matter has now been rectified and any payments due will be made shortly.

Austin Deasy

Ceist:

77 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason for the delay in payment of 22-month special beef premium to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford; and when payment will issue.

The person named applied for the 22 month special beef premium on 35 animals in June 1993. Following a computer validation check it was found that there were three invalid tags and one tag number on which this premium had already been claimed. These problems have now been resolved following clarification from the herd-owner and payment will be made shortly. He did not apply under the January/February or November 1993 special beef premium schemes.

Michael P. Kitt

Ceist:

78 Mr. M. Kitt asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when 22-month beef premium will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

As the person named did not submit an area aid application for 1993, payment of grants under the January/February 1993 special beef premium scheme cannot be made until it is established whether or not he had a milk quota at 1 April 1993 and whether or not he applied for ewe premium in 1993.

These matters are being investigated by my Department and if it is found that any payment is due it will be paid as soon as possible. He was not an applicant for grants under the June and November 1993 special beef premium schemes.

Ceist:

84 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a person (details supplied) will be paid for 28 bullocks applied for in January 1993.

As the person named did not submit an area aid application for 1993, payment of grants under the January-February 1993 special beef premium scheme cannot be made until it is established whether he had a milk quota at 1 April 1993 and whether he applied for the ewe premium.

The person named was paid the balance of her 1993 beef cow grant on 28 April 1994. She cannot be paid any 1993 suckler cow premium as she has no suckler cow quota and did not apply for a quota from the national reserve. Her applications for the January 1993, June 1993 and November 1993 special beef premium schemes are being processed and any payments due will issue shortly.

Seymour Crawford

The person named was paid advances of his 1993 suckler cow premium on 10 December 1993 and his 1993 beef cow grant on 14 December 1993. The applications of the person named under the January 1993 special beef premium, 1993 cattle headage, 1993 equine headage, and 1993 suckler cow schemes are being processed and any payments due will be made shortly. He applied for the June 1993 special beef premium on seven animals for the ten month scheme and nine animals for the 22 month scheme. One of these animals was rejected because of ineligible age which, under the terms and conditions of the special beef premium scheme debars him from the scheme for 1993 and 1994.
